Canad Inns runs this hotel next to Manitoba's Club Regent Casino: 146 smoke-free rooms, around 1,200 slots, bingo and a 1,300-seat event centre. Practical, not plush.

  • Rooms & views6.5
  • Casino floor7.5
  • Dining6.5
  • Shows & events7.5
  • Pool, spa & fitness5.5
  • Getting there7.5

Ideal for: A no-frills Winnipeg night next to slots, bingo and the event centre.
Look elsewhere if: Resort perks matter — rooms are modest and no pool is listed.

Why book it

The Canad Inns Destination Centre Club Regent Casino Hotel adjoins Club Regent Casino, one of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries' two Casinos of Winnipeg. Six storeys, 146 smoke-free rooms — Two Queen, One King, One Queen, One-Bedroom King Suite — which a AAA inspector summed up as "modest". Accurate.

Friday night on the floor

About 1,200 slots including progressives and electronic table games, bingo, and live tables daily 5:30 pm–3 am. Manitoba's age: 18. In the hotel, Playmaker's Gaming Lounge runs VLTs 9 am–midnight. The Club Regent Event Centre (2014) seats 1,300 for concerts and comedy.

Eating

Aaltos does themed buffets Thursday–Sunday, 5–8 pm (chicken and ribs, surf and turf, roast beef, turkey) and a Sunday brunch, 10 am–2 pm. Also: Toukies casino lounge, an ice-cream shop, McDonald's.

Logistics

  • Parkade: free.
  • Airport: ≈15 km, 25 minutes.
  • Check-in 4 pm, out 11 am; no pets (AAA).
  • Stay & Play rate: $15 free play per Club Card member.

Our call

Good enough for an event-centre night or a gaming trip to Winnipeg, but no resort — hence its place just outside our top ten.
