How we score casino hotels
Last revised · facts verified
Six criteria, each marked 0 to 10, rolled into a weighted average. The weighting is deliberate: a hotel can't top the table on one standout feature if the rest of the weekend is weak.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Rooms & views | 25% |
| Casino floor | 20% |
| Dining | 20% |
| Shows & events | 15% |
| Pool, spa & fitness | 10% |
| Getting there | 10% |
What each criterion covers
- Rooms & views: room and suite count and variety, published sizes, the outlook, renovations.
- Casino floor: floor area, slot and table numbers, hours, poker rooms and high-limit areas.
- Dining: range, a destination restaurant, food after midnight, buffet and brunch.
- Shows & events: venue capacity, who's booked, age rules at the door.
- Pool, spa & fitness: what is open now — closed facilities don't score.
- Getting there: airport and downtown distances, transit links, parking.
Where the facts come from
Order of trust: the hotel's own site and the casino operator's site; then provincial tourism boards and hotel-brand pages; then newspapers and Wikipedia, always named when used. Conflicting sources get both numbers printed — Hilton Lac-Leamy's room count is the standing example. Unpublished details are marked as unpublished, never estimated. This edition's facts were checked on October 23, 2026; the new-openings page on October 28, 2026.
A plain disclosure: for this edition we did not stay at the hotels. Every review is a desk review of published information.
Money
No hotel pays us, and hotel links are ordinary links. The two online-casino pages may carry affiliate links to casino sites; sign up through one and we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Commissions have no effect on hotel scores, and positions in the hotel ranking are not for sale.
